On Saturday the 22nd matchday of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich edged Werder Bremen 3‑0 at the Weserstadion.
Werder started with confidence, showing an energetic and attacking style in the first minutes, but failed to create any real chances. Bayern gradually seized control of the game after the opening period and equalised in the 22nd minute when a penalty was awarded after an earlier miss was correctly judged. Short after, Harry Kane added a “dream goal” to make it 2‑0, sealing a quick advantage.
Werder kept pressing, occasionally putting pressure on Bayern’s defence, yet they were repeatedly thwarted by the solid back line and by goalkeeper Jonas Urgib, who was standing in for an injured Manuel Neuer.
Bayern dominated possession and capitalised on swift counter‑attacks. In the 70th minute, the substitutes Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies paved the way for Leon Goretzka to slot in a third goal for a 3‑0 finish. Despite further chances on both sides, the scoreline remained unchanged: Werder could not find the net and Bayern kept a clean sheet, aided by Urbig’s saves and the tactical deployment of the squad.
During the second half both teams made several substitutions. Bayern turned on Harry Kane and Joshua Kimmich, while Werder introduced Felix Agu, Jens Stage and Karim Coulibaly. Yellow cards were shown to Werder’s Cameron Puertas, Niklas Stark and Senne Lynen, and to Bayern’s Jamal Musiala.
Overall, Bayern’s experience, efficient chance conversion and composure under pressure shone through, whereas Werder, despite an earnest performance, was too often too close to the goal and failed to capitalize.
Additional Saturday results: Hoffenheim 3‑0 Freiburg, Frankfurt 3‑0 Gladbach, HSV 3‑2 Union Berlin, and Leverkusen 4‑0 St Pauli.
