Infineon Eyes Humanoid Robots as Its Next Big Revenue Driver

Infineon expects a significant sales boost from humanoid robots. Chairman Jochen Hanebeck told the “Handelsblatt” (Wednesday issue) that this could become a growth area comparable to how power semiconductors are today for AI data centres. The company already has most of the relevant components in its portfolio, meaning it would need to develop only a few new parts specifically for the robotics market. Many of the chips Infineon currently supplies the automotive industry for automated driving could also be used in these robots, potentially helping to support the margins that have been under pressure.

If Infineon can replicate the jump it experienced in AI chips, it would send a strong signal to investors. The Dax-listed company tripled its revenue from chips powering new AI factories last fiscal year, but Hanebeck did not provide a concrete timeline for the potential billion‑euro business. He added that, until now, it remains unclear how quickly the market will really take off.
