In its effort to secure a recount of the federal election, the BSW cites new evidence of alleged counting errors. The evidence consists of statements from eight eligible voters who all affirm that they voted for the BSW in polling stations that, after the tally, recorded zero votes for the party. At the same time, those very stations reported “extremely above‑average results” for the minor party Bündnis Deutschland (BD).
This is what the 177‑page election‑review complaint, filed by the BSW with the Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday, tells the “Stern” newspaper. The eight sworn statements are attached to the complaint.
“When I refer to these new witnesses, it is clear that we are dealing with demonstrably incorrect results, which in turn point unequivocally to structural counting errors to the detriment of the BSW” party chair Amira Mohamed Ali told the “Stern”. She concluded, “We therefore know that the official final result is wrong”.
The BSW says it has proven “irregularities and systematic counting errors that disadvantage us” said Janine Wagenknecht to the “Stern”. She added that the BSW is not contesting its entry into the Bundestag; the matter concerns only the accurate determination of the last federal election’s results – and the public’s trust in the democratic system.
