Gas Station Association Warns of Long Queues as Iran War Drives Fuel Prices Higher

The gas‑station lobby expects queues at stations in the coming days and weeks because of the war in Iran.
Spokesman Herbert Rabl told the “Rheinische Post” (Tuesday edition) that many motorists are already topping up their cars and buying a reserve canister at the same time. “The first lines at the pumps are already forming” he said.

Rabl added that petrol and diesel prices are set to climb further, and that many customers will try to seize the present price advantage before it disappears. “Large companies are already turning up the price lever, even though this hasn’t yet shown up in the supply chain” he noted. “The greater the fear about what is being produced below the Persian Gulf right now, the higher the station prices will rise”.

He also said he does not yet see a bottleneck. However, the stations will not profit from the price rise. “We have our contracts; we earn one to two cents per litre depending on which agreement I have” Rabl explained.
