The Forsa poll that RTL and ntv used for its weekly survey shows the Union (CDU/CSU) maintaining a slight edge over the AfD. The Union sits at 26 % of the electorate, with the AfD just behind at 24 %. The SPD remains steady at 14 %, the Greens at 12 %, and the Left at 11 %. Both the FDP and the BSW garner 3 % each, while all other parties together reach 7 %.
Non‑voters and undecided voters continue to make up a large share of the public opinion, standing at 26 %-well above the 17.9 % recorded in the last federal election. How the recent flare‑up in Iran and the wider Middle East will influence political sentiment in Germany will only become clear next week.
When the same sample was asked about parties’ political competence, changes were minimal compared to the prior week. The Union improved by one percentage point to 18 %, and the Greens climbed to 6 %. The AfD’s rating fell by one point to 11 %, while the SPD is trusted with a 6 % competence rating and the Left with 5 %. A majority-53 %-remain sceptical and do not award any party a credibility of competence.
The survey, conducted from 24 February to 2 March 2026, included a total of 2,503 respondents.
