The German services sector registered a real increase of 2.1 % and a nominal rise of 3.9 % in 2025 compared with 2024, according to preliminary figures released by Destatis on Thursday.
During the first half of 2025, real sales grew 2.4 % year‑over‑year, while the second half saw a 1.9 % increase. Information and Communication led the gains with a 4.5 % rise, followed by Real Estate and Housing with 2.5 %. Freelance, scientific and technical services grew 2.2 %, and Transport and Storage rose 1.3 %. Other economic services posted a more modest real growth of 0.7 %.
In December 2025, after calendar‑ and season‑adjustment, real sales were 0.8 % lower than in November, and non‑price‑adjusted sales also declined 0.8 %. Compared with December 2024, calendar‑ and season‑adjusted real sales fell 1.3 %, whereas nominal sales rose 0.2 %.
