The Green Party, together with 17 German companies, has demanded that the federal government abandon plans such as the so‑called “network package” proposed by Economy Minister Katherina Reiche of the CDU. In a report for the “Frankfurter Rundschau” by ippen‑Media, the companies urge the black‑red coalition to focus on modernising the energy system and accelerating the rollout of renewable energy instead of pursuing the current package.
To support this stance, the Greens are putting the paper online as an online petition that will be available until the weekend, inviting additional signatures. The 17 initial signatories are: K2 Systems GmbH, W‑I‑N‑D Energien GmbH, Bürgerwerke eG, EWS, Enertra, Fenercon, FluenceGP (Siemens), Joule GmbH, Green Planet, Energy, Greentech AG, Naturstrom AG, ÖkoPlus AG, reventure, Timm & Flo GmbH & Co. KG, World Fund (Climate Tech VC), and Biber GmbH.
The companies argue that the federal economy ministry’s proposals could sharply slow the expansion of renewables. They express extreme concern that economic opportunities and energy‑policy necessities are being ignored or misjudged. According to the appeal, the government’s current initiatives-whether framed within the network package or a building‑modernisation law-risk losing sight of the energy transition’s goals and opportunities, endangering existing investments and jobs.
Earlier in the month, the Greens also mobilised a signature campaign against the network package, which has already attracted several hundred thousand participants.
