Israel carried out further attacks on Iran’s leadership during the night that led into Wednesday. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Iranian intelligence minister Esmaeil Khatib was killed in an air strike on Tehran.
Katz also warned that “significant surprises” could be expected later in the day. He and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have authorised the armed forces to eliminate any senior Iranian figure without requiring additional approval.
Just the day before, Iranian security chief Ali Larijani and the commander of the influential paramilitary Basij force, Gholamreza Soleimani, were killed in Israeli airstrikes-a fact that Iran has since confirmed.
