The ADAC, Germany’s largest automobile club with roughly 22 million members, is reportedly preparing for a substantial hike in its membership fees after six years of no change. Internal documents, relayed by Business Insider, indicate that the club will need to adjust its rates to keep up with rising costs and maintain the high quality of services its large membership base expects.
When Business Insider asked the club for concrete figures, ADAC declined to confirm specifics. A spokesperson, however, said: “After six years of steadily increasing costs, we must consider a fee adjustment to continue delivering quality services to our large membership”.
According to the documents, the average increase is expected to be about 20 percent. Premium members are set to see the steepest rise, while basic members will also see higher charges-at least an extra €10 per person. Family subscriptions could climb by as much as €55. The new rates are slated to take effect in 2027, following decisions to be made at the club’s upcoming general meeting in May.
