Discussions between the Green Party and the CDU in Baden-Württemberg have reportedly reached a breakthrough phase. According to the Südwestrundfunk, citing sources within the parties, leading Green candidate Cem Özdemir and CDU state leader Manuel Hagel allegedly reached a compromise late Monday night, suggesting that official coalition talks are imminent.
The political context remains complex. Following the state election in the Southwest region earlier this March, the Greens narrowly defeated the CDU, positioning Özdemir to potentially take on the role of Minister-President. However, the negotiation process may encounter continued difficulty, as both the Green Party and the CDU currently hold an identical number of seats within the state parliament.
