Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Pakistan for a series of talks, to which a U.S. delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner is also expected over the weekend.
However, as of Saturday afternoon, there are no official plans set for direct negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. Araghchi initially met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, and the Pakistani Chief of Staff, Asim Munir. He is reportedly scheduled to continue his travels to Oman and Russia afterward.
Regarding potential U.S. involvement, the United States had previously stated that Vice President JD Vance was prepared to join the talks in Pakistan should the need arise. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump noted that Iran intends to make an offer but that he is currently unaware of the content. Overall, the ultimate direction of the discussions in Pakistan remains unclear.
In other regional developments, the Israeli army and Hezbollah have continued fighting, with both sides accusing the other of violating a recently extended ceasefire. Israeli forces have issued renewed warnings to residents in southern Lebanon, advising them not to move south of a specific marked line.
Separately, Iran has reportedly executed a man who had participated in the large-scale national protests carried out in January. The man was accused of having worked for Israeli intelligence services.
