Exile Flight: German Authorities Deport Afghan Criminals Back to Taliban Rule

According to information from “Spiegel”, the German government once again deported a large group of criminal offenders to Afghanistan during the night leading into Tuesday. The operation involved a chartered flight departing from Leipzig after midnight, carrying approximately 25 Afghan men.

The flight was scheduled for a brief stop in Trabzon, Turkey, before proceeding directly to Kabul. Upon arrival in Kabul on Tuesday morning, the individuals are slated to be handed over to the Taliban. The federal police officers traveling with them will reportedly return to Germany on the same plane.

The group consists exclusively of male criminal offenders. Many of the men were brought directly from places of detention to Leipzig/Halle Airport. Their alleged crimes are varied, including theft, pawnbroking, drug trafficking, group rape, manslaughter, kidnapping, extortion-robbery, and politically motivated crimes.

The deportees originate from a wide array of German states, specifically Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, and Thuringia.
