The sentiment within the German export economy has only improved marginally recently. According to Ifo exporter expectations, the figure rose to -3.3 points in July, up from -3.6 points recorded in June. Klaus Wohlrabe stated that the export sector is still failing to pick up momentum and that companies are hoping for stronger stimulation from international markets.
When examining individual industries, the outlook is varied. Manufacturers of electrical equipment and beverage producers remain highly optimistic. However, confidence is waning in the machinery and food production sectors, where companies recently anticipated a decline in overseas sales.
In the automotive industry, while exporter expectations did increase, they still remain in negative territory. In contrast, manufacturers of electronics and optics have faced a significant downturn, predicting falling export figures. Furthermore, manufacturers of metal products are also anticipating a reduction in foreign sales.
