Stuttgart police arrested an 84-year-old man accused of multiple counts of sexual abuse of children, totaling several hundred alleged cases. The Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
The man is accused of forcing children into sexual acts over a period of several years. The alleged crimes took place both within a familial setting and at a swimming pool.
The investigation initially gained momentum in February when the police launched a call for witnesses. This effort led to further information, bringing the suspect into the crosshairs of investigators. On Tuesday, officers successfully apprehended the German citizen. Little later that same day, he was brought before a judicial magistrate, who subsequently issued a detention order. The suspect was then transferred to a correctional facility.
