An incident involving a hostage-taking occurred this Friday at a bank branch located in the city center of Sinzig, in the Rhineland-Palatinate region. According to initial reports, the police operation has been ongoing since 9:00 a.m.
The situation began this morning when an employee left a cash transport vehicle parked outside the bank to enter the premises. Sources report that an unknown man then intercepted and threatened the employee.
Both the alleged hostage-taker and the bank employee are currently confined within the bank’s vault room. A substantial police presence has been deployed in front of the Volksbank, and the entire central area of the city has been completely cordoned off. In response, specialized police units are en route, and helicopters are circling overhead.
