Deadly Shooting Attack Claims Twelve Lives in Johannesburg Turf War Raid

At least twelve people have died in a shooting attack in Johannesburg late Tuesday evening, according to police. South African authorities also reported that nine other individuals were injured during the incident in the Cleveland neighborhood. A large-scale manhunt for the perpetrators has been initiated.

Police indicated that more than ten suspects were dropped off in a white vehicle near a petrol station. The group then infiltrated the informal settlement through both entrances and opened fire on residents at several locations. The perpetrators subsequently fled using the same vehicle.

South Africa ranks among the countries with the highest murder rates globally, with an average of approximately 60 people being killed daily. Gun attacks in informal settlements are not uncommon and are often linked to gang violence or personal conflicts. The circumstances surrounding this particular attack are still unclear and remain under investigation.
