Paris Outskirts Shooting: Man Kills One, Wounds Four in Apparent Random Attack

In an attack near Paris, a man fired shots at pedestrians from within a car. Initial reports indicate that at least one person was killed, and four others were injured. Shortly after the incident, police apprehended the suspect in Coignières, though local authorities noted that the situation in the Yvelines Department has not yet stabilized.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 AM in the towns of Trappes and La Verrière, located approximately 25 to 30 kilometers southwest of Paris. The suspect, a 39-year-old man, is known to the police but not to intelligence services. The mayor of Trappes, Ali Rabeh, stated that the man shot “randomly” with the intention of creating a “bloodbath.”

In response to the violence, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu assured the public that all resources available from security and judicial agencies have been mobilized to handle the crisis. The national anti-terror prosecutor’s office is closely tracking the unfolding case.
