Upon concluding the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, US President Donald Trump declared the meeting a success, specifically highlighting the agreement between the United States and Iran. “I would say it was one of the most successful G7 summits ever,” Trump stated, thanking French President Emmanuel Macron.
The US President added that the timing was perfect, noting, “On Sunday, we reached an agreement with Iran, and we achieved everything we wanted, and even much more.”
The agreement secures the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz while guaranteeing that Iran will never acquire or develop an atomic weapon. Trump suggested that because the first and second leadership groups of the Iranian regime have departed, the country’s behavior will now change.
Furthermore, Trump vehemently dismissed reports suggesting that the United States would have to pay money to Iran as a result of the deal. “We are not giving them any money, we are giving nothing,” he asserted.
