Spain secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in their second group stage match of the 2026 World Cup in Atlanta.
The Spanish side took the lead early in the tenth minute, spearheaded by Lamine Yamal. He scored from close range on the right post following a well-worked attack and a precise pass from Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal quickly doubled the score in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a header from Dani Olmo. Just three minutes later, Oyarzabal added his second goal, establishing a comfortable 3-0 lead before the break.
In the second half, Spain continued its dominant performance. The fourth goal arrived in the 49th minute after an unfortunate own goal by Hassan Al Tambakti. A corner kicked from the left found Cucurella, whose shot was deflected by Al Owais but ultimately went into his own net. Despite efforts by Saudi Arabia to scrape together some consolation goals, they were unable to breach the tight Spanish defense.
The match was largely one-sided, with Spain clearly controlling the game. Saudi Arabia had few opportunities and struggled to put the Spanish backline under significant pressure. With this win, Spain has significantly boosted its chances of progressing in Group H, bouncing back from the disappointment of their first match against Cape Verde.
