The German Football Association (DFB) has affirmed that it will not open itself up to external investors at the association level. Holger Blask, the DFB’s General Secretary and Chairman of Management, told “Handelsblatt” that external investors will not be involved in the DFB GmbH & Co. KG. However, Blask noted that cooperation with external parties could be considered in certain subsidiary companies-for instance, concerning digitalization projects-provided that such collaboration brings a clear strategic benefit.
Furthermore, Blask ruled out the possibility of relocating the DFB Cup final to an international venue. “We will not move the DFB Cup or especially the final abroad. We want and must preserve our own DNA,” he stated. Instead of geographic expansion, the association is focusing its international efforts primarily on maximizing the media and digital reach of its competitions, along with the occasional matches featuring the men’s and women’s national teams. This stance contrasts with several other European competitions that are currently planning to hold specific required matches outside of Germany.
