Stade Suspect Previously Under Investigation for Threatening Doctors at Hannover Hospital

The suspected perpetrator involved in the fatal shootings at a youth care facility in Stade, Lower Saxony, was reportedly under investigation months earlier due to his conduct toward physicians at the Hannover Medical School. According to reporting by “Die Welt,” this earlier legal proceedings was eventually halted due to threats.

The initial incident, according to the report, began in early April during the treatment of a baby suspected of suffering from a shaken baby syndrome, initially at the Hannover Medical School and later at a pediatric hospital. The 45-year-old father subsequently came into the focus of the authorities during this investigation. Doctors stated that on April 22, the man appeared at the Medical School in an extremely aggressive state.

“Die Welt” further reported that he severely threatened the treating physicians and essentially declared that he would hold the responsible parties accountable should anything happen to his child in the clinic. Later, on May 5, a subsequent email from the man, which allegedly insulted the doctors, was reportedly received by the medical staff. The Hannover public prosecutor’s office confirmed to “Die Welt” that the proceedings related to the threat had been dropped because no legally relevant threat existed.
