According to reports, Julian Nagelsmann is stepping down as the national team coach for the German national football team. Multiple media outlets have confirmed that the 38-year-old decided to resign from his position following a crisis meeting held by the German Football Association (DFB) in Frankfurt am Main.
Nagelsmann’s departure had been hinted at in recent days. Sources indicated that the DFB had given the coach a deadline until Monday to resign voluntarily. Bernd Neuendorf, the DFB President, stated in a public release that the association could not simply overlook the disappointing performance during the World Cup. After a three-and-a-half-hour session analyzing the World Cup failure, it appears Nagelsmann decided to step down.
Originally, Nagelsmann’s contract was set to run until the 2028 European Championships. Jürgen Klopp is being discussed as a potential replacement. According to Sky Sport, Klopp is ready to take the job if the DFB offers him the position.
