Explosions were reported in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday. According to various media reports, explosives detonated near a hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron was scheduled to stay during his two-day state visit.
Following the blasts, streets were closed off and security measures were heightened. This visit marks Macron’s first trip to Syria as a high-ranking EU head of state since the downfall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
