Physician Chamber Slams Incomplete Social Health Insurance Reforms, Demands Full Funding Accountability

The German Medical Association has strongly criticized the changes to the Health Insurance Contribution Stabilization Act, which were released over the weekend. According to Klaus Reinhardt, the association’s president, the adjustments fall far short of what is actually required.

Reinhardt stressed that the federal government must finally and fully meet its responsibility for financing services that are outside the scope of health insurance. He added that fulfilling this obligation would create the necessary financial and temporal space to align the stabilization of GKV finances with the requirements for high-quality patient care.

Furthermore, Reinhardt questioned whether the coalition government truly recognizes the current realities of healthcare provision, particularly since it intends to send a large number of additional patients to practices for sick leave starting on the first day.
