E3 Ministers Condemn Iranian Attacks on Shipping, Urge Diplomatic De-escalation

The foreign ministers of the E3 nations-Germany, France, and the United Kingdom-have strongly condemned Iran’s recent attacks targeting commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against regional countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan. In a joint statement on Monday, the three ministers emphasized that respecting the sovereignty of coastal waters and ensuring freedom of navigation are fundamental principles of international law. They reaffirmed their ongoing support for the swift and complete resumption of international shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and expressed their “unconditional solidarity” with their partners in the Gulf states and the broader region. Furthermore, the E3 foreign ministers called for the restoration of the ceasefire and the recommencement of negotiations between the United States and Iran.
