According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the 72-year-old animal caretaker who suffered injuries from a tiger attack near Leipzig in May has succumbed to his severe injuries. He reportedly passed away last Friday in a hospital, having been in continuous inpatient treatment since the incident.
The prosecutor ordered an autopsy on Monday, although the results are not yet available. The initial attack occurred on May 17th on the property of the accused. Given the victim’s death, the investigation against the tiger’s owner is now proceeding on suspicion of negligent homicide due to omission (failure to act). Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
