According to data released by the Ipsos institute on Wednesday, the ‘black-red’ coalition is continuing to lose support in the recent poll of voter intentions. The Union (CDU/CSU) has dropped to its lowest level since January 2022, while the SPD has reached a historic low of 12 percent. Combined, the CDU/CSU and SPD account for only 33 percent of the vote.
The AfD remained stable at 28 percent compared to Ipsos’ earlier poll in early July. Both the CDU/CSU and SPD lost one percentage point each, with the CDU/CSU polling at 21 percent and the SPD at 12 percent.
However, the Greens were able to gain one point, increasing to 15 percent. The FDP also saw a positive shift, moving up one percentage point to 5 percent-a threshold that would theoretically allow the party to gain representation in the Bundestag. The Left party remained static at 13 percent, and the BSW saw no change at 3 percent. All other parties combined also remained unchanged at 3 percent.
Ipsos conducted the survey by polling 1,000 eligible voters in Germany between July 31 and August 2.
