Authorities in Dorsten, Germany, have apprehended a 16-year-old male suspect following the discovery of a woman and a toddler deceased in the Holsterhausen district. The bodies of a 32-year-old woman and her 1-year-and-7-month-old daughter, both Ukrainian nationals, were found on Sunday.
The suspect, also a resident of Dorsten and of Ukrainian origin, presented himself to law enforcement at the scene on Sunday evening and admitted to involvement in the incident. He was subsequently taken into custody.
Preliminary autopsy results have confirmed suspicions of foul play.
The scene underwent extensive forensic examination throughout Sunday, concluding in the evening. Police have since removed the security perimeter. A significant number of tips have been received from the public and are currently being assessed. Investigators have stated that no connection has been established between the incident and a robbery that occurred on June 26th. Investigations remain ongoing.
