Karoline Leavitt is stepping down from her role as White House Press Secretary at the end of the month, US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday. The reason cited for her departure is her desire to spend more time with her children and family, for which Trump expressed “understanding and respect.” Leavitt will continue to be influential, transitioning to a role as one of his “most important external advisors” and becoming an “influential voice” within the Republican Party. According to Trump, Leavitt has held a leading position inside the White House since 2018. Furthermore, Trump praised her as “one of the best press secretaries in the history of the White House,” thanking her for her “outstanding work,” especially during the 2024 re-election campaign.
