A Polish travel bus tragically overturned on a highway near Mezokeresztes in Hungary during the night leading into Sunday, resulting in the deaths of twelve people. According to Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar, the bus had swerved into a ditch. Several other individuals were also injured in the incident.
Police reported that the vehicle, which was traveling toward Nyiregyhaza, carried 57 passengers and two drivers when the accident occurred. Initial investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Pictures taken at the scene showed a severely damaged red bus lying on its side in a ditch, with broken windows and luggage scattered around.
Authorities are currently continuing their investigation into the precise cause of the crash.
