Borussia Dortmund Lands PSV Star Joey Veerman in Midfield Reinforcement

Borussia Dortmund has reinforced its midfield with the signing of Dutch midfielder Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven. The 27-year-old Dutchman signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2031, and will wear the number 25, the BVB announced on Tuesday.

Dortmund Sporting Director Lars Ricken stated that Veerman’s skills will significantly benefit the squad. He explained that this summer’s transfer focus was deliberately centered on the midfield, particularly because the team had loaned out two players in that central area-Pascal Groß and Salih Özcan-at the beginning of the year, and they plan to utilize Emre Can in central defense upon his return.

Veerman began his career in 2005 with FC Volendam and made his professional debut in 2016. He then moved to SC Heerenveen in 2019, having made 81 appearances and scored 12 goals for Volendam. He joined PSV Eindhoven in January 2022, where he accumulated 198 appearances and 31 goals, helping the club secure three league titles, two cups, and three super cups.

Furthermore, Veerman gained international experience, featuring in 16 matches for the Netherlands national team since 2023, scoring one goal. Speaking about the move to Borussia Dortmund, Veerman expressed pride in joining a “great European club” and looked forward to celebrating successes with the BVB.
