Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes delivered a strong performance to win the Italian Grand Prix. His teammate, George Russell, finished second in Monza, while Max Verstappen (Red Bull) secured the final podium spot. The Italian driver, Antonelli, only started the race from 19th place and took the lead from Russell during the 50th lap.
The race started with plenty of excitement, including a heavy accident involving Charles Leclerc in the second round, where he struck the track limits. After a significant interruption, the race resumed, and Russell initially held the lead. However, Antonelli quickly worked his way through the field, putting pressure on Russell before finally overtaking him in the Ascari chicane.
The race was marked by several intense duels, particularly between the McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Max Verstappen also showed a strong effort, managing to fight his way back onto the podium after having been overtaken by Piastri earlier in the event.
Regarding points, the drivers who finished outside the podium standings included Norris, Piastri, Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Pierre Gasly (Alpine), and Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls). Franco Colapinto (Alpine) earned two points for the World Championship by finishing ninth, and Yuki Tsunoda (Racing Bulls) scored one point in tenth place. Nico Hülkenberg (Audi), the only German driver, placed 12th. The next race is scheduled to take place in Spain next week.
