CDU Chief Guarantees No Internal Swings to AfD in Saxony-Anhalt

The Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze (CDU), has ruled out the possibility that the AfD will gain a majority through defections from his own party following the state election. According to Politico, Schulze stated, “I can rule that out for the CDU. I know all the candidates, and that will not happen.” He guaranteed this, asserting that all CDU candidates intend to implement CDU policies, not those of another party. Furthermore, Schulze emphasized his desire for a swift election of the new Prime Minister within the state parliament for the upcoming legislative term, saying he wants the matter to be quickly put on the agenda.
