Norris Snags Netherlands GP Pole as Qualifying Drama Unfolds Under Storm Threat

Lando Norris from McLaren secured pole position for tomorrow’s Grand Prix at Zandvoort. George Russell, riding for Mercedes, will start from second place, while Andrea Kimi Antonelli, also on the Mercedes team, completes the top three. Oscar Piastri, Norris’s teammate, starts from fourth, and Lewis Hamilton will enter the race from fifth in the Ferrari.

The qualifying session began with an intense battle for the fastest lap, initially seeing Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at the front. However, Andrea Kimi Antonelli managed to secure the fastest time temporarily before Norris retook the lead. George Russell also delivered a strong performance, positioning himself between the two McLaren drivers. The looming threat of rain added extra pressure, prompting drivers to try and complete their fast laps early.

As qualifying progressed, conditions grew more difficult once the first drops of rain materialized. This prompted most teams to pull their cars into the pit lane. Only the Ferrari drivers remained on track, trying to improve their times. Ultimately, Charles Leclerc managed to climb to fifth place, which saw Lewis Hamilton drop his teammate to sixth.
