Werner Graf, the leading candidate for the Berlin Green Party, stated that following the state election, he favors a working partnership with The Left Party over the CDU. Speaking to the “Tagesspiegel”, Graf confirmed that he has consistently maintained his preference for a coalition involving the Social Democrats and The Left, specifically because of the desire to send the CDU into opposition.
The Green politician justified his stance by criticizing the CDU, asserting that the party allocates subsidies without adhering to established regulations. Furthermore, Graf accuses the CDU of a policy of regression, citing instances where they destroy cycling paths instead of building new ones, and expressing disapproval of plans to extend the A100 highway. He also mentioned the current CDU-led government’s cuts to cultural and scientific funding as issues he opposes. Graf is running as the Greens’ top candidate in the Berlin state election scheduled for September 20th.
