Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has issued a severe warning regarding potential massive security threats in Berlin should a coalition government dominated by the colors red, green, and red take office. Dobrindt stated to the “Bild-Zeitung” that “the ultra-left coalition in Berlin could become a genuine security risk,” adding that Berlin must not become a haven or operational space for clan criminals, extremists, and antisemites.
To counter these dangers, Dobrindt argued that there would be a need for a “decisive and firm approach,” involving an increase in police presence, a strengthening of the federal protection agency, and the expansion of video surveillance. However, the Interior Minister claimed that the opposite of this approach is what could be expected from the Red-Green-Red coalition. Dobrindt concluded by criticizing them, asserting that their policies would create the greater impression of patronizing criminal gangs rather than effectively combating crime.
