Hattingen Man Found Critically Injured with Axe in Head; Police Launch Homicide Investigation

A severe incident occurred in Hattingen-Niederwenigern on Monday afternoon when a passerby discovered a heavily injured man who had been struck in the head with an axe. According to police, the 54-year-old German man, who lived at the suspected crime scene, is in acute danger to his life. He was reportedly wearing work trousers and was unresponsive when found. He has since been flown to a specialized clinic for further treatment.

The police have established a murder investigation unit and are currently searching the residential area. Authorities report that initial leads pointing to a possible suspect have emerged, with suspicions suggesting the motive is linked to the victim’s private life.
