German Police Issue Strong Warning of Zero Tolerance Amid Fears of Civil Unrest and Extremist Protests

Andreas Roßkopf, the head of the Police Union (GdP) for the Federal Police, announced that if unrest spilling over from France reaches Germany, law enforcement will react with extreme firmness. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday edition), he stated that both state and federal police forces will act decisively and massively. “At this point, there will be zero tolerance and no room for leeway,” Roßkopf insisted.

The union chief further warned that police will intervene immediately using robust units and all legally permissible means. Roßkopf noted that there is a risk of radicals and extremists joining the participants, potentially using violence and brutality against police officers, with the aim of destruction. These calls are already circulating on social media platforms.

In light of the recent turmoil in France and Italy, authorities are taking these calls very seriously, with the situation being closely observed and evaluated to prevent similar incidents from occurring domestically. Roßkopf added that anyone who commits a criminal offense “will be stopped with every possible degree of consequence.”

This warning comes ahead of the planned protests on October 31st. The initiative “Gen Z steht auf” is calling for demonstrations in numerous German cities, and a specific event is scheduled to take place near the Brandenburg Gate.
