Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has cautioned the governing coalition against engaging in personnel debates following the upcoming state elections, asserting that he disapproves of changes among top leadership. Speaking to Stern, Dobrindt argued that such personality clashes are fruitless and distract from the “historic reform work being done for Germany.” The CSU politician further stated that the coalition’s leadership is collaborating “very well and trustingly.” This statement comes as both CDU party chief Friedrich Merz and the two SPD chairpersons, Lars Klingbeil and Bärbel Bas, have recently faced sharp criticism from their own respective political organizations. Furthermore, Dobrindt stressed the critical significance of the election in Saxony-Anhalt, describing it as a “major direction election” for the country. He emphasized that the focus must remain on demonstrating to the public that these elections are about “setting the course for this nation,” and as such, he is assisting the CDU in their campaign there.
