Paderborn Secures HSV Striker Rayan Philippe on Loan Boost for Bundesliga Push

SC Paderborn 07 has signed striker Rayan Philippe on loan from Bundesliga rival Hamburger SV, as announced by the newly promoted club on Tuesday. The 25-year-old will wear the number 9 jersey for the team and had featured for HSV during the first matchday of the current season.

Philippe’s youth career included time at Dijon FCO, where he made his way into the professional squad. In Ligue 1, he made five appearances. Following loan spells at SC Toulon and AS Nancy, he moved to FC Swift Hesperingen in Luxembourg in 2021. During his two years there, he made 45 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 29 assists.

In the summer of 2023, Eintracht Braunschweig acquired the attacker. Over two seasons in the 2. Bundesliga, Philippe played 59 games, netting 21 goals and recording eleven assists. He scored one goal in the two relegation matches against 1. FC Saarbrücken, helping Braunschweig retain their league status. Afterwards, he joined Hamburger SV and played in 28 Bundesliga matches last season, contributing five goals. The 1.82-meter-tall Philippe also earned two caps for the French U-20 national team.

Sebastian Lange, Sporting Director of SC Paderborn 07, commented: “We are very happy that Rayan is joining our club. He has demonstrated his qualities both in the 2. Bundesliga and recently in the Bundesliga. Rayan will help us with his enormous speed, his technique, dribbling ability, and finishing power.”
