Günter Krings, the deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group, is demanding a stricter response to what he calls “climate radicalism.” Speaking to the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, the CDU politician stated that the recent attacks targeting the power grid in several states possess “a terrorist quality.” He emphasized that the severe provisions of criminal law must be consistently applied to safeguard the democratic and rule-of-law order. In addition to his call for increased law enforcement, Krings appealed to political parties and civil society, stressing that there must be no impression that these dangerous acts of violence are met with sympathy or even tacit approval.
