During the visit of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates intends to present billions in investments to the German economy. Lana Nusseibeh, the State Minister at the UAE’s Foreign Ministry, told “Welt” that during the three-day visit, between 40 and 45 agreements are expected to be signed, involving billions in investments in the German economy, as well as opportunities for German companies within the Emirates.
Nusseibeh highlighted that the Federal Republic excels in technology, innovation, and clean energy. The UAE aims to elevate its relationship with Germany to a strategic partnership through this first visit by a UAE head of state. Furthermore, her government considers reaching a free trade agreement with the EU realistic, noting that “we are mutually important trading partners: the UAE as a gateway to the Middle East, and Europe as a vast economic region.”
Both sides have high motivations for the upcoming negotiations. Some details are still being worked out by technical teams, with another round of discussions scheduled for about a month from now. Nusseibeh expressed optimism for progress before the end of the year.
