The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has reportedly initiated proceedings before the State Security Senate of the Berlin Chamber Court, filing charges against seven men suspected of planning terror attacks in Berlin and Vienna on behalf of Hamas.
According to findings presented in a 214-page indictment, the men allegedly planned to strike targets in the German and Austrian capitals either simultaneously or in close succession, approximately two years after the October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel. Military cells in Europe were purportedly organized, trained, and remotely directed from an operational base in Turkey to carry out attacks targeting Israeli individuals and Jewish communities.
The accused, who hold German, Danish, and Bulgarian citizenship and primarily trace their ancestry to Lebanon, are alleged to have sourced, and stored in both Berlin and Vienna, weapons, including fully automatic assault rifles, Glock pistols, and ammunition.
Further complicating the case, one of the defendants allegedly recorded a confession video in a Vienna apartment on August 7, 2025. Analysis by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) showed the man-who was disguised and armed-standing in front of a Hamas flag. In this video message, he promised bloody acts of revenge across European soil on behalf of the “Qassam Brigades.” All the suspects remain in pre-trial detention.
