Grünen leader Franziska Brantner has called on the federal government to introduce concrete and rapid measures to address soaring fuel prices. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” (Thursday edition), Brantner criticized the government’s approach, stating, “The Chancellor announces relief measures for fuel prices, but does not say how they are meant to benefit people. That is not enough.”
She demanded a more specific answer to the financial strain, proposing “a socially stratified energy voucher of up to 250 euros, financed by the excessive crisis profits of fossil conglomerates.” Brantner stressed that petroleum companies benefit from every euro spent at the gas pump.
In addition, she insists that the electricity tax must finally be reduced. This measure, she argues, would ease the burden on every household in Germany. Alongside these steps, she believes it is crucial to facilitate the switch to climate-friendly transportation and expand the use of renewable energies.
