A strong majority of Germans express significant concern about the future of democracy. According to a Forsa survey conducted for RTL and ntv, 79 percent of respondents currently hold large or very large anxieties regarding the democratic future of Germany. Only 19 percent reported having little or no concern.
The concern is particularly pronounced among women and younger adults. Eighty-five percent of women share these deep worries, compared to 73 percent of men. Similarly, young people aged 18 to 29 show a high level of concern at 85 percent, while those aged 30 to 44 report a rate of 73 percent.
This widespread anxiety is reflected across supporters of all polled political parties. For followers of The Left (Linke), the concern stands at 97 percent. Supporters of the SPD are worried at 84 percent, the Greens at 82 percent, and CDU/CSU voters at 78 percent. Among AfD supporters, 70 percent express large or very large concerns.
