Andreas Storm, the CEO of the DAK-Gesundheit health insurance fund, has received the German Ministry of Health’s decision regarding the average supplementary contribution for 2027 positively. Storm welcomed the establishment of the average contribution at 2.9%, stating to the “Rheinische Post” that this figure brings stable health insurance contributions closer to reality for the year 2027.
However, the head of DAK also issued a warning, emphasizing that it is an absolute necessity that the statutory health insurance system not face any further additional burdens in the coming weeks. Specifically, he cautioned against the planned commitment of 1.3 billion euros for the pharmaceutical industry’s “location clause.” Storm stressed that this expenditure should not fall on the shoulders of the contribution payers. Instead, the federal government must cover these deficits using tax revenues to ensure a “fair distribution of burdens.” The Federal Ministry of Health finalized the average supplementary contribution for health funds at 2.9 percent, a figure that remains unchanged.
