ZDF is planning a new program featuring Jan Böhmermann, which will lead to the conclusion of its current format, “Magazin Royale.” The broadcaster announced on Friday that internal discussions are underway regarding a possible new show concept. Böhmermann’s current program will cease its original run by the end of the year, having aired for more than six years and 187 episodes.
The show first launched as “Neo Magazin” in 2013, later airing on ZDFneo as “Neo Magazin Royale,” before being integrated into the main ZDF programming block as “ZDF Magazin Royale” in 2020.
Nadine Bilke, ZDF Program Director, praised the show, noting that it regularly initiates important public discussions and has rightly received numerous awards. Bilke expressed her pleasure at the prospect of continuing the successful collaboration with Jan Böhmermann and commencing a new chapter for the program.
