Energie Cottbus and FC St. Pauli drew 1:1 during the sixth matchday of the 2. Bundesliga.
The match featured early drama when St. Pauli’s Tomoya Ando received a yellow-red card in the 21st minute after pulling the jersey of Energie forward Moritz Hannemann.
Energie Cottbus took the lead in the 37th minute, scored by Justin Butler. Butler capitalized on a pass from Hannemann, receiving the ball near St. Pauli’s Eric Smith before shooting from about 18 meters. The shot was unstoppable for Energie goalkeeper Ben Voll, hitting the upper left corner.
The deadlock was broken in the 80th minute when Martijn Kaars scored the equalizer for the visitors. Ricky-Jade Jones pulled wide on the left wing and delivered a cross inward, which Kaars headed into the goal from close range.
This draw allows St. Pauli to climb to 8th place in the table, while Cottbus remains in 7th position.
