The President of the Crafts Association, Jörg Dittrich, has called for special solutions for professions that involve intense physical strain, particularly in the context of pension reform. Speaking to RTL and ntv, he emphasized, “We need these special solutions for the trades as well,” while simultaneously acknowledging that the reform is “correct with a view toward generational fairness.”
Dittrich criticized the ongoing pension debate, noting that it disproportionately focuses on professions such as roofers and nursing specialists. He pointed out that reaching the statutory pension age is already a significant challenge for roofers today. Therefore, he stressed that a detailed assessment must be conducted to determine which specific jobs should qualify for exemptions.
Looking at the current economic situation, Dittrich warned that inaction would be detrimental to everyone. He concluded that all citizens must contribute in order to sustain prosperity and the social safety nets.
