Nvidia CEO Dismisses AI Extinction Fears, Urging Industry Self-Regulation Over Premature Control

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed warnings regarding the potential for Artificial Intelligence to cause human extinction. When questioned in detail about the cautions voiced by figures such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Nobel laureate Geoffrey Hinton, Huang told the Handelsblatt that he does not wish to repeat the topic, calling the idea laughable.

He asserted that the industry itself must be responsible for ensuring the safety of its technology. Regarding regulations, Huang suggested that Germany should prioritize developing the technology first, and only impose restrictions when concrete problems arise. Addressing the recent hacker attack carried out by OpenAI agents on the Hugging Face platform, he labeled the incident “unacceptable.” He pointed out that the agents lacked both “containment and supervision.”
